A legal firm knowledgeable in the challenges real estate professionals face, Codilis and Associates serves Burr Ridge, Illinois, and the surrounding area. With active philanthropic efforts throughout the company and encouraging employees to volunteer, one group Codilis & Associates supports is Mercy Home for Boys and Girls (Mercy Home).
The Mercy Home began in 1887 when Archbishop Patrick Feehan opened a working boys' home to house and care for the homeless boys in Chicago at the time. Through the early 1900s, the single home grew to include a campus of buildings to house more residents and additional facilities. In 1919, the Mercy Home began offering occupational and vocational skills training to prepare the boys for adult life. The Mercy Home altered its components to keep up with the growing list of children's needs. In 1981, its aftercare program continued to provide tangible and intangible support to residents after they moved out of the organization's campus. In 1987, Mercy Home opened the Walsh campus for girls and commenced its Friends First mentoring program, where adult volunteers serve as role models for residents.
