In business since 1977, Codilis and Associates provides legal services on real estate matters from building court and eviction to foreclosure and bankruptcy. With a combined professional experience of over a hundred years, the attorneys at Codilis & Associates are also members of several state bar associations, including the Chicago Bar Association (CBA).
The Chicago Bar Association is a voluntary organization comprising 20,000 lawyers, judges, and other members of the legal community. Every year, CBA hosts the Moot Court Competition where law students from ABA-accredited law schools conduct research, write, and present case arguments in a court setting. Now in its 36th year, the Moot Court Competition will be held on November 14-16, 2019 at Dirksen Federal Building, attracting more than 30 participating teams from all over the country. A designated Moot Court Committee will choose the competition problem and inform the participating teams before the start of the competition. There will be three preliminary rounds, after which the Committee will select the best oralists, best briefs, and the 16 teams that will proceed to the quarter-final round on November 16th. Eight teams will be chosen to participate in the semi-final round, however, only four will move forward and present their oral arguments in the final round.

Based in Burr Ridge, Illinois, Codilis & Associates is a legal practice that focuses on providing real estate law services to its clients. In conjunction with their professional activities, many Codilis and Associates attorneys are involved with the international law fraternity Phi Alpha Delta. Every year, Phi Alpha Delta hosts a mock trial competition for teams of law school students across the United States. The competition takes place in Washington, DC, and allows 30 teams of four students each to argue as both prosecution and defense in multiple rounds for a pre-disclosed, fictitious case. Professional lawyers and judges volunteer to watch the teams compete and determine the winner. Phi Alpha Delta’s upcoming 2017 competition will take place from Thursday, February 23 through Sunday, February 26. Winners are announced for first through fourth place, and special honors are also awarded to law students who exhibit exceptional individual skill as prosecution, defense, witnesses, or advocates. Last year’s winners came from the University of Illinois College of Law. |
